One year ago, today, I launched Monica Lynn Sadler. I remember the year before the launch. It was just a thought. An idea. A risk. A dream. Nothing more...nothing less. I had a skillset and a dream. I was unemployed, so why not? What did I have to lose?
The launch date was a deliberate choice. It was Superbowl Sunday. But that was not why I chose that date. As a planner, I had to set a date and not veer from it. As a marketer, I chose a play on numbers. Something that would stick.
Then I chose to accentuate it with Roman numerals.
Then, the unexpected. March 11, 2019, the pandemic was declared. Scary? Absolutely. But I remained determined, choosing rather to rethink and restructure. We have come a long way and remain steadfast looking forward to a bright future. I do not say this to pat myself on the back for surviving. I have watched many companies fold and it truly breaks my heart.
Sometimes you must take a risk to fulfill your dream. Consider what you love to do. Draw? Sew? Design? Cook? If you have a dream, I encourage you to go for it. If you need help, ask. You only fail if you don't try.
Here is to many more years of designs, collaborations and dreams. I have only just begun.
